MOTHERS UNION

NOW - if you see some pretty young ladies, of'~ all ages!, at your Christmas parties, swirling their wine around in sparkling glasses, holding their pretty glasses up to the light, gently watching the patterns within these glasses and taking a gentle sip, you'll know they attended the Mothers' Union meeting in November when Samantha Nicol enlightened us all about wine tasting!
With a very decent amount of red or white wine in our wine glasses she led us through the intriguing matter of how to make sure we made full use of all our senses before that lovely mixture entered our mouths and was drunk(en)! A further 2 or 3 glasses ensured that we tried all the wines available and then we finished with a glass of Champagne! Oh the joy of Mothers' Union meetings! And we had to keep an account of the colour and texture and smelt and taste and legs (!) arid bubbles in the glass. 'Twirl, smell and describe' was the theme of the event and everyone thoroughly enjoyed it, even 'those of us confined to non-alcoholic wine. During the evening we were able to partake of some lovely cheese, grapes, celery and biscuits to ensure that the wine was not to its own devices of causing untold damage. We also learned A LOT about Sam's nightlife, which is best left unrepeated!
A super evening!

During our prayers we remembered parents, grandparents' and children particularly focussing on International Children's Day on Friday 20 November and also those of our members who were unable to, come to the meeting because of sickness themselves or within their family.

The next meeting is on Wednesday 16 December when we will dine at The Wellington in Leyland at 7 for 7.30pm. As a change - members are asked NOT to bring presents for a member, a custom we usually have.
