Christmas Fair

Brindle, St James' C of E School
Christmas Fair 2009

The annual Christmas Fair was held in school on the evening of Thursday, 12th November.

There were lots of stalls on the night with many different items to choose from. The parents and children were again very generous in donating new and nearly new toys to be sold at the event. Other stalls included Avant Garden Centre, Cinnamon Nell Jewellery, FM Cosmetics, Head 0 th Marsh Farm and Organised Mum Diaries & Calendars. Mrs Carus also sold some beautiful pony toys and gifts and after having a complimentary mince pie and a glass of mulled wine in our cafe, everyone;;;;Spent even more at the cakes, books, cards & wrap stalls. There was even a chocolate fountain, which proved very popular!
There were two raffles run on the night -  one from tickets sold on the door and a special raffle to win a child's electric scooter from tickets hidden in Christmas crackers. The prizes won on the night were:
Leisure Vouchers donated by FX Leisure
Meal for 2 donated by the Cavendish Arms
Winter Hanging Basket donated by Avant Garden Centre
£10 Meat Voucher & Lancashire Haggis donated by Browns Butchers
Electric Scooter donated by Toyology.co.uk
There was also a "Guess the Weight of the Christmas Cake" competition (the cake was made and donated by Mrs Hargreaves).
This was the first event organised by the PTFA's new committee members and we were all a bit anxious about the outcome, hoping we could be as successful as our predecessors! Despite a couple of last minute hitches I,
the evening was agreat success and we were ecstatic with the amount raised - £646 (with more to come!)
Many, many thanks go to all the people who not only helped to organise the event, but who ran stalls and served teas. Thanks also to our guest traders who attended the event and to all the local businesses that donated the wonderful prizes for our raffles. These ranged from a week's fitness pass from FX Leisure, Leyland to meals at the Cavendish Arms and Malthouse Farm, beauty and shop vouchers, jewellery and play centre passes, A special thank you goes to Avant Garden Centre and Organised Mum who very kindly" agreed to doI1ate their takings to the event.
Last of all, thank you to all who came and supported the event. The evening was very busy and enjoyable and most importantly, a huge benefit to the school.
We'll be organising another one next year and welcome everyone from Brindle and the surrounding communities to come and visit 'us..
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
