Show me how you would check the :
Q : Headlights and rear lights are working.
A : Turn the lights on then walk round the car and check they are working.
Q : Direction indicators are working.
A : Turn the hazard warning lights on then walk round the car and check they are working.
Q : Horn is working (off road only).
A : Press the horn on the steering wheel.
Q : Handbrake for excessive wear.
A : Put the foot brake on release the handbrake reapply the handbrake checking there is resistance there and that the handbrake does not come up to far.
Tell me how would you check the :
Q : Brake lights are working on this car.
A : Press the brake pedal and ask a friend to check them, or back up to something reflective.
Q : Brakes are working before starting your journey.
A : Move away slowly and try them.
Q : Tyres have correct tread depth and there condition are fit to use on the road.
A : Check that there are no cuts or bulges or uneven ware on them and they have the correct tread depth with a depth gage. (1.6mm)
Q : Tyres have the correct pressure in.
A : If the tyre looks under inflated take it to a garage and inflate it to the correct pressure which I can find on the chart or in my handbook for the car.
Q : The power steering is working before starting a journey.
A : Pull down on the steering wheel with left hand hold it there then turn the engine on, the steering should drop or become loose indicating the power steering is working.
Open the bonnet and identify.
To open the bonnet open drivers door reach down with your hand against the side wall next to the accelerator there is a handle pull it this will release the first bonnet catch.
To open the second bonnet catch stand in front off the car slide you hand under the bonnet approximately six inches to the right of centre push the catch up now you can lift the bonnet up.
Take the bonnet stay marked E pull it up and place the end in yellow hole in the bonnet
Q : Where is the window screen washer reservoir and how would you check it.
A : It is A and it would be a visual check and it should be between minimum and maximum.
Q : Where and how would you check the engine oil on this car?
A : It is B pull out the dipstick wipe it put it back in pull it out check it is between minimum and maximum.
Q : Where and how would you check the engine coolant?
A : It is C and it would be a visual check to see if it is between minimum and maximum.
(WARNING ONLY TOP THE ENGINE COOLANT UP WHEN ENGINE IS COLD)
Q : Where is the brake and clutch fluid reservoir and how would you check it.
A : It is D and it would be a visual check to see if it is between minimum and maximum.
Note that all the items mentioned have yellow tops.
