Parents Challenge Cup Tournament 2003

For the first time, the Club organised a 6-a-side football competition for the parents of all our teams. This took place on Saturday 14th June at St Joseph's Primary School and teams representing the under 7s, 9s, 10s, 11s and 13s took part. Each team played 8 games of 8 minutes duration between from 12.30 to 4pm (a total of 20 games). The sun shone and spectators enjoyed a superb afternoon.

The games were fiercely contested but were fair and friendly. Some of the players refereed games and their decisions were accepted without question. Results meant that the under 7s and under 9s were both in line to win the fine Cup, but the final game gave it to the under 7s. The trophy was presented to the captain of the winning team, James Sanderson, and many players then went off to the Black Horse for a well earned glass of lemonade.

In all it was a great way to meet other teams and with each player paying £5 to play, the Club should benefit financially. Because it was so successful it should become a regular event in future years. Thank you to Shaun Davies who was the main organiser.
