Presentation Evenings 2003

Gregson Lane Junior Football Club held its annual end-of-season presentations on 31st May and 13th June. Because of the number of teams involved (nine) it was again necessary to split the event into two evenings. The younger teams (under 7s, 9s and 10s) were at Bamber Bridge FC Club and the other teams (Under 11s, 12s, 13s, 14s, 16s and 18s) at the London Road Labour Club. Both events were enjoyed by parents and players alike, with the presentation of trophies followed by a hotpot/hotdog supper, raffle and disco.

The evenings celebrated the success of all our players in representing the Club throughout the season. Although there were special awards for Player's Player, Manager's Player, Most Improved Player and Clubman of the Year, everyone was a winner and received a club trophy. Special awards were also given to the two managers whose teams were finishing this season. Colin Pike, under 18s manager, who has been with the Club since his team was under 12, was given a commemorative plaque and Mark Inglis, the under 16s manager, who has run his team for six years was given the special “Achiever of the Year” Award. Thank you to them and to all their players who have represented Gregson Lane JFC for the past few years. In the future they will probably look back at this time as a memorable one.

Thanks are due to Shaun Davies and Peter Holme who organised the events, to the parents who managed to obtain raffle prizes and to the prize donors, who included B&Q, Argos, Hairlines, Streakers, McDonalds, Berry's, Megabowl, Camelot, Foxes Biscuits, The Mill Tavern and the Castle public houses. It costs over £1500 to run these evenings but again we have managed to “break even” and cover all the costs.
